On Saturday, September 23rd, I had the honor of documenting Gabby and Eric’s wedding day at Celebrations on the Bay in Pasadena, MD. Rain on your wedding day (or in this case tropical storm Ophelia) is never what you envision when planning a wedding overlooking the water. While I have shot my fair share of rainy day weddings over the years, this was probably one of the worst weather days in my 12 years photographing weddings. I was so sad for them and even more so being that Eric is my younger cousin and I wanted the day to be perfect for him and his bride. When I arrived in the morning, the girls were busy getting ready and while there was some degree of disappointment at the weather everyone was in good spirits. A little wind and rain wasn’t going to ruin this day for Eric and Gabby.
These two long time sweethearts were wed in a heartfelt ceremony in the presence of family and friends, followed by a fun-filled reception full of emotional toasts, a delicious dinner and lots of dancing. If there’s one thing I took away from this wedding, it’s that love is all about embracing life’s imperfections and finding beauty in every moment, rain or shine. Because their love shined, even if the sun didn’t that day.
CONGRATULATIONS, Eric and Gabby! I’m so happy I got to spend such a special day with you all. Wishing you many years of love and happiness together. XO
*STAY TUNED FOR PART II later today… when we went back to the venue a few weeks later to capture the photos we couldn’t on their wedding day…
