Over Spring Break we took a little trip down to Asheville, North Carolina to get away for a few days and explore a new place that I had always heard amazing things about. Asheville is a city in western North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s known for a vibrant arts scene, breathtaking natural beauty, historic architecture and is home to more breweries per capita than any other U.S. city. If you’ve never been, do yourself a favor and put it on the list! We tried to explore a little bit of everything but there really is a ton to see and do. Check out some of the highlights…

Our first little Airbnb flat in town was adorable. AMAZING street performers everywhere!
There’s a drum circle in the center of town every Friday.
Lots a good antique/thrift shopping
Definitely some of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on and the trees were still coming back to life. I can only imagine how it will look in a few weeks or in the Fall!
There are so many amazing breweries to choose from but we decided on New Belgium . 1. Because we LOVE the beer and 2. We appreciate their message of environmental stewardship (Their motto: “To manifest our love and talent by crafting our customers’ favorite brands and proving business can be a force for good.”).  Their Asheville location is pretty new. The company was looking to expand their Colorado brewery and took the opportunity to revitalize a brownfield site near downtown Asheville. Erik and I really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was hilarious and even made it fun for Liam who wasn’t a huge fan of this stop in the beginning. Haha. Check out the employee slide we got to go down!   Hit up a free Spring Art & Music Festival at Salvage Station More hiking! If you’re ever in the area definitely check out Dupont State Forest for a day of waterfall hunting. So much delicious food. Fried green tomatoes, BBQ for the boys (BBQ tempeh for me), hushpuppies, biscuits, ice cream and more. Some of our favorites were Homegrown, Ben’s Tune Up, The Southern, Creperie BouchonTupelo Honey, Biscuit HeadVortex Donuts and Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co.  The t-shirt selection in this photo makes me laugh. 😀  Our second Airbnb was a little piece of heaven in the woods.
Foggy morning hike on Max Patch before the drive home.
Until next time, Asheville! We left feeling relaxed and inspired. I already can’t wait to return!

SIDE NOTE: Anyone getting married in Asheville???!!! I’d jump at the chance to photograph a wedding in this beautiful place. <3
